The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan is developing two new areas: Islamic finance and the use of artificial intelligence in religious education.
A specialised Islamic finance unit has been established within SAMK’s Sharia and Fatwa Department. It will conduct Sharia reviews of financial products and provide consistent guidance on leasing, insurance, investments, bonds, digital assets and electronic payment systems. Nurzhan Stambakiyev has been appointed to lead the unit.
At the same time, SAMK is developing the Imam AI mobile application. The service is intended to provide prompt answers to religious questions based on reliable and verified sources. In April 2026, SAMK representatives announced that the pilot launch was planned for early May.
Both initiatives are intended to make religious guidance more accessible and provide a more systematic Sharia-based framework for questions relating to Islamic finance.
