Erdogan calls for stronger action against online gambling

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for a broader effort to combat online gambling, saying that governments, civil society, the media, volunteers, and public figures all have a role to play. He warned that the rapid spread of online betting poses a serious threat, particularly to young people.

Turkey has already introduced measures targeting illegal online gambling, and the government says it will continue strengthening its response and preventive efforts.

Kazakhstan is also expanding measures in this area. Since 2024, the country has operated a voluntary self-exclusion system for gambling, while restrictions on advertising gambling, bookmakers, and totalizators have also been introduced. According to official data, more than 190,000 people have already activated the self-ban.
