Scammers post advertisements for simple remote jobs, promising high income, flexible schedules and payments for making transfers through a personal bank card. In reality, victims are used as money mules — their accounts are used to move funds obtained through fraud.

In one such case, a woman responded to a vacancy for a "cashier", agreed to receive money on her bank card and forward it to other accounts. A few days later, the bank informed her that fraudulent funds had been deposited into her account, and the police identified her as a money mule involved in the scheme.

Such "side jobs" can result in frozen bank accounts, investigations and even criminal liability.
