The FBI has warned football fans about the growing number of fake websites impersonating the official FIFA website ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According to the FBI / IC3, cybercriminals are creating domain names that closely resemble the official fifa.com website. These fraudulent websites may claim to sell match tickets, VIP packages, offer employment opportunities, registration, giveaways, or access to exclusive offers.
The primary goal of these scams is to trick users into providing personal information, including their name, phone number, email address, home address, bank card details, and other sensitive personal data.
The FBI has already identified numerous domains designed to imitate the official FIFA website. However, users should be aware that new fraudulent domains will continue to appear.
To stay safe, visitors should access the FIFA website only by manually entering the official address into their browser: www.fifa.com. Avoid clicking on advertisements or sponsored links, especially those promoting “cheap tickets,” “official jobs,” “fast registration,” or “exclusive access.”
Users should also verify the website address before entering any information and never provide bank card details or personal information if the website raises even the slightest suspicion.
